I had to take my frail, senior cat here today on an emergency, urgent care basis because she has chronic digestive issues and was having an extremely bad flare in her symptoms. They handled her very carefully (she’s extremely skittish and terrified of humans), gave her some meds, and also had all the meds and food she’d need for home available there so I didn’t have to go to a pharmacy. The price was a bit high, but in line with the cost of vet care in the area, especially since it was an emergency appointment. No price gouging or any unexpected fees, no $200 emergency fee that other local places have - plus, being able to leave with the meds and food was worth the extra $. I highly recommend this vet in an emergency, it’s only been an hour but my cat is already doing better, and no pooping! Immediate improvement and well worth the $.

End of life for a loved pet is a difficult position to be a part of. Our dog was in a lot of pain and found peace quicker thanks to you this veterinary care team. My wife and I appreciated the considerations/expertise throughout the difficult experience. We also appreciated the homelike feel of the room they provided; it felt peaceful--and our dog deserved that. We'd like to thank everyone at this office publicly.

Can you imagine dropping your dog off for surgery, trusting Compassion to take 7 teeth out and boom 14 gone. No explanation. No X-rays as backup. They just keep insisting they are still in your dog’s mouth and you can literally see they are no longer there. Insane! Please be careful, pets can’t speak for themselves. If I didn’t follow my gut and count the missing teeth, I would have never known double was taken. My dog has no front teeth, Compassion keeps insisting he’s only missing three and that’s just the start of it. They refuse to provide me with the all the X-rays I paid for, hand selecting which I can and cannot see. They have no accountability. They didn’t care about my pets health and when I questioned upper management, they pretended they would help, then they had the associates dodge my calls, and followed up by sending me certified mail to cancel my dog as a patient. My poor dog has 14 teeth missing with no explanation, when he woke up from surgery, we tried to get some answers and he got cancelled! Teeth don’t grow back, so what would you do in this situation? Be careful bringing your beloved pets to Compassion, because at the end of the day Compassion only views them as animals.

I went to this clinic because my new puppy was experiencing digestive issues and refusing water. The technician immediately assumed it was parvovirus (parvo) and insisted that I take my puppy to an urgent care facility far away. She was adamant that my puppy would require overnight hospitalization and had parvo, despite performing only a basic checkup—taking her temperature and listening to her heartbeat—without further evaluation. However, her assumption was not only premature but also demonstrated a lack of knowledge and critical assessment: 1. If she had carefully reviewed my puppy’s vaccination records, she would have seen that my puppy had already received two parvo vaccinations. A properly vaccinated puppy has a significantly lower risk of contracting parvo. 2. My puppy had no fever, was still active, and—by the grace of God—had not vomited even once. These are key indicators that parvo was unlikely, yet she jumped to the worst-case scenario without thorough evaluation. To make matters worse, the doctor never even showed her face. Instead of offering guidance or a professional opinion, they left everything to an uninformed technician who seemed more focused on pushing me out the door than providing real care. I was essentially given two options: leave without being charged (as if my time had already been wasted) or stay, speak to the doctor (who I never saw), and pay a fee for the consultation. Beyond that, the technician’s attitude was unprofessional and judgmental. She seemed offended that I got my puppy from a reputable breeder instead of a shelter, which is completely irrelevant to my puppy’s medical care. Her personal opinions should have had no bearing on how she handled the situation, yet it was clear that her bias affected the level of service and compassion she was willing to provide. I then took my puppy to Community Animal Care in Poughkeepsie(she also tried to tell me to not bother looking in Poughkeepsie or Kingston), but to my relief the doctor and tech were competent, welcoming, and thorough. They properly examined my puppy, ran tests, and—unsurprisingly—confirmed that she was parvo-negative. Instead of jumping to alarming conclusions, they provided fluids and food that my puppy loved and immediately started eating. For anyone considering this clinic, I strongly advise going elsewhere—across the river, or frankly, to any other vet with a competent tech and doctor who actually care about their patients. Thankfully, Community Animal Care saved the day. To Compassion Veterinary Care—A clinic called ‘Compassion Veterinary Care’ should embody its name—please do better. Veterinary care requires knowledge, professionalism, and thorough assessment—not personal biases, careless assumptions, and dismissive attitudes that cause unnecessary distress to pet owners.

I can't speak highly enough about the incredible care my Great Dane received at this veterinary clinic. We had an emergency and were fortunate enough to get in right away. From the moment I walked through the door, I felt reassured by the professionalism and compassion of the entire team. They acted quickly, taking my dog straight into surgery without hesitation, and kept me informed throughout the entire process. Their expertise and attention to detail were evident not only during the surgery but in the follow-up care as well. I truly felt like my dog was in the best hands possible. Their dedication to both the medical and emotional aspects of care stands out, and I’m so grateful for the stellar service. Highly recommend! Dr. Krause and Dr. Fougere are absolutely phenomenal!
